It's not practical for me to always take a stroller..I need an alternative for the Baby Bjorn. He is 5 months but 20 pounds and I can barely lug him around..

Love your Avatar!lol Anyway. i highly recommend an ERGO http://www.ergobabycarrier.com . They are so very comfortable and will last until your child no longer wants to be carried (or 60 pounds, whichever comes first!-) They also hold the baby in a seated position instead of dangling by their crotch. Then, if you are not having more kids, they have a phenomenal resale value!

Really, I put mine in the bjorn way past that (and the guidelines too I think) What about a backpack, sling, or hip pack. They also make those backpacks that turn into strollers.

Have you thought of the small light weight umbrella type stroller. They fold and unfold easily and are much easier to manage than the larger strollers.

I had the same problem with my son. Other than the cheap umbrella stroller, I'm not sure there is much you can do.
