I have an opportunity to purchase abook and don't know it's value. It is a 1935 Book Titled GIGGLES FROM GLACIER GUIDES by JIM WHILT AUTOGRAPHED BY JIM WHILT copyrighted 1935. The book is in excellent condition. Any ideas what this book might be worth as far as monetary value? Should I include it in my homeowner's insurance?

www.bestbookbuys.com compiles inventory of a variety of online book dealers, including the big ones like half.com, powells, alibris and abebooks. You can see what other people are trying to sell their copies for. Make sure you match the edition if there is more than one. The ISBN should match.

ebay has a feature that will email you when a listing that meets your criteria is listed, so you don't have to check every few days. This way, you can see what things actually sell for, not just the asking price. You can also search the last 30 days of their auctions to see what has sold recently.

Old books can be very valuable, or practically worthless. It depends on condition and availability, and, of course, demand.

A number of book dealers have copies for sale at www.bookfinder.com. The prices range from $15 to $30. That includes one that is signed by the author.
It doesn't seem like there is much demand for this title.

There are currently two signed copies of this book listed on abebooks.com, and they are priced at $12.50 for a copy in Good condition, and $15.00 for a copy in Very Good Plus condition. I wouldn't bother mentioning it to my insurance agent.
