Hi, my son he's now 9mth old when I firstly put him on solids he was 4 and a half months old(he was a greedy baby) he did exactly the same as your son and i panicked like yourself.

I asked my health visitor she said so long as he was gaining weight regularly and there was no large drop or increase all of a sudden he will be ok.
Although this was said I was still worried and researched it a bit on the internet and read that for a 5mth old 19oz a day was all a baby needed at that age to keep the vitamins in there bodies to help them grow healthily, accompanied with solid food its normal for an decrease in appetite for their milk intake, and if your to worried try him on more solid food, if only a little bit more.

I continued to feed my son the same on 19oz a day and he's a healthy fit and very active 9mth old. I hope I helped you out there, this is from my own personal experience each baby is different after all.

Goodluck and I hope I eased your mind if only a little.

First off dont worry! he sounds fine to me and its just that his tastes are probably changing. You may want to introduce more solids into his diet and you will find that he drinks less and less unitl he only has milk before bed. Giving him tasters at night is obviously got him goin for something else!!! It doesnt mean you are starving him either...babies are funny and i found when I had introduced solids into my daughters diet she would drink little and often

That is not normal.
Is he gaining weight? He shouldnt have decreased his formula intake.
Do you have him on solids yeT? does he like try to grab at your food? Maybe its his way of saying he wants other foods. Good luck and congrats!

has he recently come out of a growth spurt? thats how I knew if something was up with my babies. just finishing a growth spurt, the eating slowed down. if they were getting sick , the eating slowed down. Cant get them to stop eating, I braced myself for a bigger grocery bill and many credit card swipes at the Baby Gap check out line. If he doesnt seem to work it out in a couple weeks or so or if he spikes a fever or just cant see to be consolible, take him to the family doctor. I hope your little man is okay. Take care.

Have you started him on any cereal or solids yet? If you have, that would make his milk intake decrease; he's not as hungry.
