The living expenses in the Netherlands has gone way over the past years, especially when they started to use the Euro, which they forced on to them. Sales tax for example is 19%. Most tourist don't notice it, because it is included in the price. They tax almost everything and health care has gone down too. Last year the amount paid for the health insurance tripled for most families, but the access to health care has gone down, you need to pay more yourself, although it isn't as bad as in the US.
After the Euro was introduced the pay was payed in euro, but the prices in most stores doubled, so a lot of people went in debt, even though being very careful.
It has become very expensive to live in the the Netherlands and their people are looking for a better place to live, because the government won't do anything. It's phony behavior.

Because they want more space.....The Netherlands is a country with a lot of tolerance, but it is a very small country.
And the taxes are high. Since 2003 more people have left the Netherlands then they amount that enters.
This is also because of the immigration laws became more strict. The people that leave the Netherlands want more space en less taxes. And at least a better life.
