of the British hostages in Ethiopia simply because they were British officials. I am sure that if it was any other ordinary person they would not have been freaking out the way in which they were..

Yes most definitely. The British officials have been released, but lest we forget nine Ethiopians who were with them at the time are still being held captive.

That is not acceptable. They should also be released as soon as possible.

Thank you.

I don't know if they did make more effort but if they did then could it be because these people knew things that the government would not want to be made public? With the lies and spin that we have put up with from this government nothing would surprise me now. Blair wants to leave his mark on history as did Thatcher, shame it is left in blood.

without a doubt, we cant have our diplomats hijacked, what ever next if we let them get away with things like that, where on earth would it all end ? someone might take Tony Blair hostage and I'm sure we'd all be happy to ensure his quick release !!

I agree- though why anyone would want to visit Ethiopia as a tourist (currently) is another question- I thought it was common knowledge parts of it are rather unsafe.

I doubt it would have made any difference. Ordinary British citizens would got the same attention.

Probably the same effort, but the newpapers and TV would not pick up on it so much, because we are less important / news worthy.

Dont think that has anything to do with it, but letting the media know that SAS soldiers were hunting them might have helped.
