Ask them...."Why do you want or need to know?".... while giving them a "curious" look.... their response will be priceless....I'd even ask..."are you trying to hit on me? or I'm sorry...I'm not interested". let them look like the fools they are....one's personal life is just that...personal!

Why tell them off? You're behaving as though being gay is a bad thing.

Here are a few things you can say when people assume you're gay:

-- "Oh come on. Would anyone who dresses as badly as I do be gay?"

-- "I have no sense of style in day to day living. I only wish I were gay."

-- "Your attraction to me should not be based upon an assumption that I am gay. You're attraction to me is based upon your bad taste."

Why tell them off just because they are in error. Simply be polite and correct them. Only insecure or small minds take such things too seriously. I'll never understand this need to harm people simply for making a mistake.....strange indeed.

Correct them and move on. It is no big deal. It takes some time and practice to manage that sort of a response so get started now, the longer you wait the longer it will take.

Why would I wish to "tell them off" unless I'm really insecure in my own sexuality?

If they assume you're gay, and your not, simply say "I'm not gay". Getting defensive is a sign of insecurity.

Why would you tell them off?

Since you asked the question I suppose you find yourself in that scenario often, with people assuming you are gay.

That's not their problem. Some people actually SEEM gay.

Get over it, or stop acting gay if it really bothers you.

Why tell them off? Just say "I'm not gay"

When people assume I'm straight, I just say "i'm gay" or make a joke about it.

There is no need to "tell someone off" - if you do, you are lowering yourself to their level.

You say, "I'm sorry, you're mistaken - I am not gay." Not that this is any of their business anyway, unless they are asking you for sex. And that can be your next question, if they are rude enough to pursue this.

Tell them that you're not gay. If you're really mad, then tell them not to make stereotypes about people. And don't talk to them if you're furious. They'll get the picture.

do you stay up nights trying to create new ways to misspell words?
Wouldn't you solicit more answers from people who are not gay by posting it outside the Lesbian and Gay section of Y!A ?
