Im intereted in what would happen if someone was put into suspended animation in a "realistic" portrayal.
every film/book seems to portray it differently.
would you just be in coma? or with frost all over you like in 2001?
i would like to hear your different view points!
its would help my day dreaming about science stuff!

Up to now, we haven't found a fool proof way to created suspended animation in humans. We are too complex. In other animals, such as fish, they can be frozen and under the right conditions, can be defrosted and brought back to life. However, this hasn't worked well in mammals and there is this phenomenon where certain cells burst when frozen and rethawed improperly.

I don't think it's possible. As soon as you stop the heart the brain starts loosing function irregardless of temperature. In a coma the persons brain is still getting oxygen and nutrients.

I think the key would be to limit the person's exposure to the flow of time. Last I heard researchers felt that time was the 4th dimension (a set of rules that dictates how our world functions). As far as I know there are 4 dimensions they are sure about, and another 24 or 26 that exist but dont exert an influence that we are aware of.

It might be possible if your were able to free the subject from the rules that 4th dimension exerts on them. In truth though it seems pretty much impossible to freeze a person and then revive them in the same state they were frozen in
