It is averages anything from 250,000 to 500,000.
Take for example:-
The first year on average is $14,000 ( it can be lower especially if Mom is able to breastfeed and save that formula money)
This does not include daycare, with a little one it can be an average of $180.00 per week- for 1 year $8,700.
The older they get until kindergarten it usually goes down by $10.00 but that's it. So say your child is in daycare for a total of 4 years that adds up to around $34,000.
Then once they hit kindergarten, you have to think about aftercare which can be as low as $50 per week to a high of $100 per week, 4 weeks per month, 9 months per year=$3,600.
When school is out you have to think of camp especially if you do not have the luxury of staying home during the summer months.
Food and clothes, well that's another thing all together.
Now if you get your child involved in outdoor activities that can add up. for example baseball in one season alone it can add up to $500.00 for t-ball and then continues to climb for as long as they are involved.
Oh and let's not forget the doctors visits and dentist visits.
When they hit the teenage years, particularly with this " ME" generation, you got the cel phones, the "trendiest" outfits blah, blah, blah.
It really adds up but I would not have it any other way.

According to the news the other night it's between $300,000 and $500,000, including everything from diapers, to sports gear, tuition, school supplies, etc.

They're pretty expensive.
