The same way one would build a small shed. The only dif. is you'd put some small shelves in the coop for the chickens to roost on. Be sure to spread some straw on the floor as it will be a mess..."TRUST ME"

If you're looking to build a chicken coop very inexpensively using recycled materials, you can use pallets as the building material.
http://summerville-novascotia.com/PalletWoodShed/
If you look at this website, about 2/3 of the way down, someone has been inspired by this gentleman's wood shed made from pallets, so Carley Karen from Granby, MA made her chicken coop from wooden pallets and other materials she got from Freecycle.
Freecycle is an online community that works locally to allow people who have something they want to give away find someone who can use it. In addition to Offers, you can post a Wanted request and people can the meet your need. No money changes hands. The whole goal is to keep usable items out of the landfills.
You can find your local Freecycle group by going to http://www.freecycle.org
Good luck on your chicken coop, and remember to keep it green!

In your search engine punch in "chicken tractor." Chicken tractors are small, movable chicken coops that are easy to construct. If you have a local feed store, they may have print outs of plans, and so might your local hardware store. You can also get a good book on chickens from the library that will tell you how much room per bird is needed, etc. The important things are space, warmth, air circulation, and protection form predators and weather.
