Reason I ask, I usually want to use this word to describe myself but often feel like I am not worthy. What traits or deeds do you think one must possess to use the word in self-description?

I feel the same exact way that you do. You probably feel really deeply for people and wish that you could be a saint at all times, and never let ego get in the way of your decisions. It's hard to accept this but we are all just humans and saints are 1 in a century Buddah, Jesus, Mother Teresa, and Ghandi are to name a few, yet I bet even they wished they could be more humanist because as much as we want to be we can't be perfect.
