I am on birth control,,,Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo. There are 4 stages,,,light blue, medium blue, dark blue, then green for when you are on your period. I am on the green ones right now,,,and have not started my period this month however I spotted a whole bunch last week while on the dark blue ones. Is that considered my period??? Can you sometimes start your period before the actual green pills? I'm so confused,,,never happened before! Please explain what is going on with my body!!!

If this is the first month that you are using them, then yeah, I think that's okay. Your body's probably still adjusting if it is the first month.

I would say dont worry about it just because I have gotten my period on the weirdest days.........I am also on a low dosage birth control and didnt even get my period till the 2nd to last day of the placebo pills(green ones), I spotted with my old birth control almost the whole time I was taking the blue colored pills, you can get your period at ANY Time while taking birth control, sometimes your body just plays tricks and does it for a reason unbeknownst to you. If you worried about it you can call your Dr and ask a nurse, Gyno offices usually have a nurse on call just to answer questions....if they think something is wrong then they will have you come in for an appt, but i really dont think you have anything to worry about, especially if you were spotting while taking the dark blue ones........

You're fine =) When you're on any kind of birth control pill; you do risk spotting on any of the weeks before you get to the sugar pills which sound like your green ones. It usually takes a few days during that week to start; possibly later. If you do spot; this is NOT considered a period. It just means that your hormones are adjusting to the synthetic hormones (found in birth control) which can cause spotting etc..If things get worse or nothing happens at all; ask your doctor, he/she may change your dosage or rec something else =)

i was on ortho tri cyclen lo for about 2 years. if this is your first month you might not exactly start your period with the green pills. you can spot through the other three cycles and not have anything happen on the green ones. after the first month your body will regulate itself and you will have regular periods. if you are still worried and confused call your doctor and ask them. they will know more than me.

I would check with your doc if I were you.

Break through bleeding could mean your pill isn't working for you, or perhaps that you're pregnant. Either way, your doc needs to assess your pills effectiveness. You don't want to start a new course of the pill if you do have a pregnancy starting, especially if you'd keep the baby. The hormones would be bad for baby.

did you miss a pill? if you missed a pill it could be "break through bleeding" .. if not, then there is a chance you are pregnant.
I got pregnant ON the pill (ortho-tri-cyclin) .. but I had taken an anti-biotic for 3 days for an ear infection that completely de-activated my birth control pills.

good luck! God bless!

Your hormones are fluctuating/ changing.

Probably the best person to ask would be your doctor. He can talk to about this and take into consideration other factors. Maybe you need a stronger pill, how long have you been on it- skipped any pills?

ASK YOUR DOCTOR NOT US, WE CAN ANSWER YOUR QUESTION FROM OUR EXPERIENCE, BUT YOU NEVER WANT TO GO OFF OTHER PEOPLE'S EXPERIENCE FOR HEALTH ISSUES. YOU NEVER KNOW IF SOMETHING IS WRONG OR NOT OR IF THAT IS NORMAL OR NOT.

NOW I CAN TELL YOU WHAT HAPPEN TO ME, BUT WHAT HAPPEN TO ME MIGHT NOW BE WHATS HAPPENING TO Y OU. JUST TO PLAY IT SAFE, WHEN IT COMES TO MEDICATION AND HEALTH ISSUES ASK YOUR DOCTOR NOT YAHOO ANSWERS.

TRUST ME I LEARN FROM THAT MISTAKE A LONG TIME AGO. BUT DONT GET ME WRONG YAHOO ANSWERS IS GOOD FOR ALOT OF THINGS, JUST NOT MEDICAL, HEALTH ISSUES. I THINK ITS BEST TO CONSULT A DOCTOR IN PERSON NOT COMPUTER.
