Many women have fought to be equal in the workforce and in policits however I feel that many women still only want equality when it benefits them. For one even with women who want a household in which they have as much power as men, they would expect a man to pay 100% for a date. Same can be said about working. Many women want the choice to either work or not but only expect men to have the choice whether to work or not. Then the same can be said about violence. Many women want to hit or slap men but dont want to get hit back. So with all of these reasons do women only want equality when it benefits them?

When I was dating, I always offered to pay.
Men DO have the choice to stay home, there are no laws that "make" men work, while women have the "choice." Many men DO stay home and take care of the kids...haven't you ever heard of this?
And violence is wrong either way. And assault, whether perpetrated by a man or a woman, is illegal. I think you are mistaken in thinking many women expect that they should be able to hit a man and not get hit back. Some little girls may think that, but they are children. And a few women may believe that, but they have the mentality of a child.

I posed a similar question that addressed men paying for dates. I was also accused of being an idiot for paying for the date. Some people seem to believe that if you address the issue then you are guilty of engaging in the act, (paying for the date). lol I wonder if I asked if someone were to feel guilty when killing someone if I would be reported for murder?

I have seen some women call for "rights" when it benefits them. But I have seen men do the same. It is a human problem, not a female one. I heard a male coworker justify his "game" of dating by saying that women were fake because they medically enhance their breasts and put on makeup. Therefore he stated he is allowed to be "fake" too. I guess deception begets deception. This same person believes that if you do not dress well then you can not be a reliable or respectable person.
Basically, he did the same by justifying his actions when they benefited him.

Regarding
1) dates - if you always pay 100% , you are a sap or will only date the beauty divas ( you pay because you are shopping for that look )
When you start dating for a real relationship , the girl will often pay for things.
2) Many men decide to change their life (go back to school ) and the women support them while they do it.
In fact , more men , play the "support me while I go to school" game than any woman I have ever met.
2) Violence - while physical attacks on anyone is NEVER acceptable , most men have significantly more muscle mass , just as adults have more than kids . . . Therefore : a regular duke out between them is usually inappropriate for a man.
Should a woman get stupid / violent - he should leave and terminate the relationship.
Now , if only kids could escape the psycho adults who think hitting is not skanky . . . . .

Regarding your overall question, I would say that this is true of most "feminists", but not all "women."

I do respect feminists' stated PRINCIPLE of equal treatment for all people regardless of gender.

However, I lose respect for the genuineness of persons (in this case, feminists) that "preach" one thing (e.g. equal treatment), but then demonstrate that they will make exceptions to the principle when it is to their advantage. (e.g. VAWA)

Aren't principles supposed to "always" apply? Can one believe in a principle only "sometimes?"

Regarding the violence piece: The only violence I support is the perpetrator being violently thrown into the back of the squad car.

It is far better to have the perpetrator (female or male) arrested and charged with DV (or assault if it is not domestic). So, treat men and women the same. Simple.

And, trust me, being arrested and convicted will hurt a lot worse and take a lot longer to go away than any black eye. So, yes, equal treatment for all.

BTW, this protects the man too. If he strikes back, YOU (he) would most likely be the one getting violently thrown into the back of the squad car and then being hauled off to the precinct.

1) I've never expected a man to pay for a date. If he makes that assumption, I offer to either fork over my 1/2 or pay for the next one.

2) I have no desire to be a stay at home mother. I believe that men AND women should have the right to choose (or not choose) to do so. I'd actually be happier if more men chose to do so; I think stay at home dads are pretty cool.

3) I have never hit or slapped a man, and would never do so except in self-defense. Violence is wrong.

Please do not tell me "what women want." Your statements are based on stereotypes, not reality.

You have the right thought, but you did not put it in the right words. The fact is, it's not a black & white world and you'd have to learn to accept it as it is...with all the gray shades in between. It's all "contextual", every situation does differ. Not only do we women have to deal with our own need for individual freedom and self-respect, we also have society's traditions and cultural standards & expectations for men and women, to keep in mind. Not only this, we also have to think of how all this is affecting men and what is really expected of us. It's not easy for us to do this balancing act but we do it. As difficult as it may be to believe, it is complex and conflicting even to our minds sometimes. It is just the way it is, when we have to think along many lines. Men are having to do a juggling act in many things as well. Things are changing. The concept of masculinity and femininity isn't as separate as it used to be before....It's the way society is evolving.

I feel you should really observe with a broader mind first & try to understand the dynamics......

i believe that the equality thing is all well and good when it comes to equal pay for equal work, but why would i want to give up my superiority over men in other aspects of life. as far as the hitting thing, why give up the control and strike first, duh.there was a line in the movie men in black 2, that explanes it all, a good set of mammorys can rule this world. ever seen a woman loose her mind over seeing a good male member? while we all want to be appreciated for our work just like a man is we don't loose our minds over a mans body parts .

i'm glad you at least did not say "all women" although i don't think that it is "most" women. (in general) women that want to work, and want equal power in a relationship are NOT the same women that expect the man to pay for a date, or open doors for them.

i work for a living, i have a house husband. i pay for everything. he paid for our first few dates--even though i tried (one time when i paid & he slipped the same amount into my coat pocket when i didn't notice)

as to violence, NO violence is acceptable. i don't know of many women who want to hit or slap men! not saying that women do not do that, just that they are not fighting for the right to abuse men! any abuse is unacceptable and childish.

I know several stay at home dad's. However, it seems that the men shrivel at the prospect of letting the power to earn money go.

Dates - well, my buddies all made at least twice as much as the dudes they dated (ah they got married) and yes, the women payed for the dates. Additionally, they challenged their husbands to get better jobs. Again, it took time for the men to let go of their insecurities that they weren't men unless they paid. I can't go on dates anymore 'cas my budget won't allow for paying for me and him ... but that's OK for now.

Violence - IS NOT ACCEPTABLE withing a relationship. Isn't the goal of a relationship to find someone to share a life with? Doesn't beating this person defeat the 'sharing' aspect???

Well feminists want it, actually thats all modern feminists want since equality has been achieved a long time ago. Now they are fighting for equal outcome with some men, happily spitting on our values of fair chance and free enterprise.
