I am female and would like to hook up with another female pref. if not a male in CR to hang out and explore! I dont mind if she/he is local or a visitor like myslef. How should I go about this???

Smart comment before... find friends while you travel, do not try to hook up on the net for this. Anyway you do it try checking various sites like http://www.costaricainfoguide.com for tips, http://www.costarica-restaurants.com for places to eat, check the US embassy site and the official tourism board site http://www.visitcostarica.com above all, look for a hotel/hostel that is in a safe are.

Hi,

Costa Rica is a great place to visit and I am sure that you will be able to meet very nice folks once you get here. Try meeting people at hotels or hostels, there are many options. I suggest not being too aggressive about finding a travel mate...just use your instinct and play it cool.

Good luck,

Announcing over the Internet that you are willing to meet a male travel partner out of the country isn't the smartest thing to do. Do you know what I mean?

Be very careful, that part of the world isn't known for it's progressive attitude toward women, and traveling alone by a woman can be very risky.

It's amazing how naive some people can be about the hazards in life outside of their provincial little world.

People in Costa Rica are very friendly. Depending where you plan on staying you will probably meet people traveling like yourself, at the hotel, tours, etc. I would probably ask your friend, what he did when he was there as far as meeting people.

try getting in touch with someone from one of the rafting companies. There are usually a handfull of Americans down there hanging out and there a pretty good bunch of folks. I wish I had some names to give you but I don't know who headed down that way this year. Maybe I can get you some names before to long.
