Did you get a positive or a negative? If negative, then it's only about 50% accurate. If it came up positive it's like 99% (unless you are taking fertility drugs).
A store brand if fine, as long as it's for early detection. If not, and if the test was negative and you are still concerned, wait until you are a week late and take another test. Or get a more sensitive test like 'first response" and take it in another day or two. Good Luck.

If it says positive then its probably not wrong but if it says negative then it might just be too early to tell. I took a pregnancy test 2 weeks b4 I even missed my period and it came out positive and it was correct. Oh and I used a walmart brand and not even an early detection one either. So I dont think it matters if it is a store brand.

The tests are pretty accurate..they even work a few days before your period is supossed to come.the only way they cn be wrong is if your egg ahs embedded in your side or something so you will not actually deliver a child but are expressing all the same hormones--if it says you're pregnant--you probably are--do another test--just to double check..early symptoms--are you going to the bathroom a lot more?...that is a pretty early sign..cramping is not necessarily a pregnancy symptom in the beginning...

How late is your period? Best to take a home test when your period is at least three days late, for most accurate results. Also, you need to take a test that says it gives "early" results, such as First Response Early Result.
Use first morning urine, and don't drink anything a few hours before bed the night before the test.
Good luck.

You can get false negative, but not a false positive.
You don't HAVE to do it first thing in the morning anymore. I took mine on my lunch break at work. (It was on my mind and I couldn't wait any longer). It was positive, and I now have a 5 month old son.
I took mine when I was only 3 days late! But my body runs like clockwork. I was NEVER late.. always 28 days...

Take the test two weeks after missing period. Test best taken in the morning after getting up from bed.

I took a pregnancy test 7 full days before my period was due and i got a positive result. The brand i used was Answer.
Q: How accurate are the home pregnancy tests that say you can get a positive result 3, 4 or 5 days earlier than other tests, or 3-4 days before you have missed a period?
A: Because implantation usually happens 6-12 days after ovulation, it is always possible that early testing will be too soon. Clearblue Easy publishes on its website the following stats: “Clearblue Easy can be used as early at 4 days before you expect your period. That's 5 days sooner than waiting until you miss your period to test. The amount of pregnancy hormone increases rapidly in early pregnancy. In clinical testing with early pregnancy samples, Clearblue Easy gave the following results. 53% of pregnant women get results 5 days sooner. 74% get results 4 days sooner. 84% get results 3 days sooner, 87% get results 2 days sooner.” With their digital test, they say 55% get a positive result 3 days before a woman’s period is due, 87% 2 days before, and 92% one day before. First Response and Answer say “Answer Quick & Simple® Early Result Pregnancy Test can detect the pregnancy hormone as early as 4 days before you expect your period. In clinical testing, Answer® detected the hormone levels in 69% of women 4 days before their expected period, in 83% of women 3 days before their expected period, in 93% of women 2 days before their expected period, and in 93% of women 1 day before their expected period.”

I would wait until you miss your menstrual cycle and then take another test. If you go another few weeks without, consult a doctor for a blood test. Good luck!

I'm assuming it was negative? Yes it could be wrong. I took one 3 days before my period & it was negative, but I was pregnant. Your hormone levels could still be too low.
