I disagree with most of the answers here. While it doesn't "mean" anything, I have noticed tendencies on certain people to wear their ring on their thumb. To me it indicates that an individual is open to new things especially with a guy. A thumb ring also stands out a bit, so the individual is probably looking for attention to some degree as well. It can be taken as one sign when trying to assess a situation.
