I always thought of the councilman as a really good friend. We had engaged in some friendly banter about religion, and then I read the above this morning.

He posted our personal e-mail communication on the message board!

Obviously, I should have taken better precautions. But I feel absolutely betrayed.

My 8 year old daughter asked me five minutes ago, "Why doesn't Uncle Salahuldin like me anymore?" I just told her, this doesn't have anything to do with you sweetheart.

I feel horrible.

At one time or another it's happened to most of us. Someone we trusted lets us down by doing or saying something we would have never expected of them. if you still want him as a friend talk to him about it and tell him how you feel. The friendship may never be the same though. Because one tends to hold resentment and thoughts about if they were capable of doing it once they may do it again.

I think you are right to feel betrayed.
Clearly, other people need to feel validated in their importance.
Just don't let it bother you.
People on the internet feel free to hide behind their usernames and feel that it is okay to view others as not actually being a person so they feel they can say what they want, and there will be no consequences.
As for the fact you used "Jesus Christ" in your email, well, there he's just being a nit picker and childish.
I read his post, don't bother with him anymore. You go your way, and he'll go his, and continue to trust people as most are good.

You thought of me as a good friend?

Yeah right. How do you explain the message board attacks on me throughout the past month? If you're going to tell a story about someone, tell both sides.

And I told you and everyone else on the board, out of courtesy, I wasn't going to mention your name. I was going to leave it as a general question about if any Christian said that. YOU came in and admitted to writing it.

If you want to put all this behind us, I am willing to forgive you for your written abuse; but please stop insulting and condescending everyone on the Religion & Spirituality section.

As-salaamu alaykum - Peace be upon you
