I ask this question because my 14 year old brother Darnell is always talking about white girls. I am his 18 year old older sister. I am tired of it. He goes to a racially mixed school 50% white 50% black roughly. He has pictures of all his white girlfriends on his myspace page. Not one black girl. He also has posters up in his room of Britney Spears, Paris Hilton, Pamela Anderson, Jessica Simpson, and Katie Holmes. I can only imagine what he is doing in there when he locks his door at night. Are white girls the standard of beauty? I want my brother to appreciate black girls too. He says they dont measure up to white chicks. I find this offensive. Am I wrong?

I think he just hasn't met the right girl and he is still so young. He's at that sexual stage and I think that a lot...not all....but a lot of the white girls I see with black guys are pretending to be something their not and a lot of the time they come off looking trashy. I don't want to offend any one because my sister-n-law is married to a black man and she isn't trasy at all. I think you should make sure that whatever girl he chooses measures up to the family standards and is being true to herself and being who she really is. You can't judge anyone based on color. Eventually he will grow up and realize the things that make women beautiful aren't about looks...in the meantime the only thing you can do is guide him and try to be pushy for fear of pushing of him away.

You can't change your brothers mind and until he's old enough to meet a woman who does it for him I wouldn't worry. I've dated black, white,Hispanic, and in the end it doesn't matter. It's about who treats you the best and who you fall in love with that counts. Plus have you ever considered all the negative stereo types in the media about how all black girls want to be video hoes, now it's not true. But an impressionable young man may not realize this.Almost every year the standard of beauty changes, one year it was the large chest, the flowing "white" hair. This year is the large a**. And being that he's not seeing the intelligent talented black women being put out there like he sees the white ones that may be what he's latched on to. Let him grow up some and see what's out there, all of it, be it black, white or Chinese. And talk to him, find out why he thinks that black girls don't "measure up", and if his reasoning is something that's just ignorant show him examples of beautiful, intelligent black women that don't follow society's idea of normal.
In the end it's HIS choice, and as long as the girl he chooses treats him with love and respect and he does the same, why should it matter?

Saying that We don't measure up to white chicks is offensive b/c he comparing one race to another and saying that white girls are Superior to blacks. I think your brother has some self hate issues at too young an age and from all the white "chicks" he has posters o
in his room are not very good examples of women with high standards those for a trashy and he needs to get higher standards in women period, no matter what color they are.
You should really see what is going on with him and why he hates black women. It has to be something deeper than that. i guess he is also just seeing them as sex objects and in a way that's good that he doesn't see every black woman as one b/c we get enough negative imagery from rap videos as it is. Those girls aren't better than anyone and he needs to recognize that no one is better just b/c of their color.
He better change his attitude before he turns into a black woman hating man like Wesley Snipes.

Not at all. I know alot of brothers that only date white girls because they do things that black girls wouldn't. They think white girls are so pressed they can yell at em, get money from them and are easier to have sex with. (Where black girls ain't as easy). Your brother seem like he has a taste for white girls thou, with all those posters on his wall, maybe that's just who is truly attracted to. But at such an early age he got alot of time to figure out if interracial dating is really all that. Its when is starts recording Friends is when you should get worried. peace

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder!
Live and let live.

Boys lust after girls full stop. What has the colour of a persons' skin got to do with anything?

Your brother is worng in saying that they dont measure up. There is beauty in every race and different people have diferent tastes, otherwise no white girl would like your brother right....

No, you're not wrong at all. He's only 14, this could just be a phase. Hopefully when he's a little bit older, he can learn to appreciate beauty in every color.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Each person has their own preference. Personally, i think all different types of girls are pretty in their own way.
