I am in the process of having a new kitchen - my fitter has been here for 3 hours and I've made him 2 cups of tea. Shall I just keep out of his way? Will he just ask if he wants more?

Having renovated 3 houses im pretty clued up on the technicalities of tea etiquette :)

1 - Tea on arrival
2 - when they have their lunch offer another
3 - then mid afternoon with a biccy or three .

Thats more than enough :) They will appreciate you but wont take you for granted.

just offer him one when you have one (unless you are like me and drink gallons of the stuff). 9 times out of 10 workmen bring a flask of tea with them anyway. have fun in your new kitchen

leave it with "let me know if you need anything". if he doesn't take you up on it, check and see in a few hours. it's smart to treat the people working on your house as humans, you'll get better work from them. we realize that we are disrupting your life and invading your home. when treated kindly, most of us will go out of our way to minimize the disruption and try to make it as easy as we can for you. good luck, enjoy the new kitchen!
