My boyfriend is a nurse in the ER at the local hospital....he also has 2 kids, and is starting graduate school this spring...therefore he is very busy...hes NEVER made me feel as if im a burden in any way. The only problem is because of his schedule we dont see eachother as much as id like, and some nites he gets out late from work and doesnt call since I get up early and he doesnt want to wake me up....I really care for him a lot and will not give up on him just because of his awful schedule...i trust him, that is not the issue...im just looking for some suggestions I guess on how to handle it better...because, as hes said, once school is over and his shift changes, things will be better ..hes also mentioned living together but not sure if im ready for that yet...we both want to make sure we are ready..since we both have kids involved....

It sounds like he is worth the wait.

While you are both busy, just remember how important communication is. Great communication will keep the relationsihp together... and someday you WILL have more time for each other, for example when you are ready to live together.

He doesn't call when he gets off work late. That makes sense. Maybe he can take a few minute break to call you when you ARE going to sleep, or at least leave you a text message or email when he gets home at night to let you know he is safe.

Little things like that will make you feel better for now, and will keep the relationship going for the day you are together.

Well my friend, I'm in a long distance relationship and I can tell you about being far apart from your boyfriend.
Right now, take things slow and be extremely patient. That is the key value. Just take everything day by day and think about those times you have already shared to pull you through the day. Try focusing on other things like... spending and dedicating yourself more to your kids or picking up a new hobby like... gardening. Put some loud music on and start dancing around the house. Well, anything to keep your mind off him. If you want to think about him just think about the sweet things you've shared and treasure those moments.
But always stay strong, have patience and think about what's ahead for you.

Remember that while the worst part in life is having to wait, the best part is having someone worth waiting for.

Good luck!!

(I should learn to follow my own advice, HA!)

All you can do is wait.

He's worth it, right?

Relationships are about give and take, maybe one day you'll be the busy one and he'll be the one missing you.
