i normaly run 8km, i plant my feet heal toe. also get sore in my knee's these days, i have the right shoes nothing wrong with it. what can i do to stop getting hurt in knee's and shin splints

I used to get shin splints as well. Stretching lots before and after helps, also running on a treadmill rather than on the ground.

Firstly, consult a doctor, you don't want this to get any worse than it already is.

Secondly, run less often than you are now, then rebuild your schedule slowly over a month or two. This will give your shins time to recover and build muscle as they need to. On days when you don't run you can try putting a muscle stimulant (like deep heat or tiger balm) on your shins to attract blood to that area to repair/ refresh your shins.

Thirdly, only run until your shins hurt. Don't run after that. Pain is your body's way of saying stop.

You should see improvements within a month.

i'm a great north runner... and had the same problems. the only real solution is proper rest. the pain in your knees is probably 'runners knees'. i have been off running 4 months and feel WAY better, despite not being keen on the idea of taking so long off. i have kept fit through swimming and using a cross trainer gym machine instead . seek advice from your local physio for daily exercises. avoid cycling if you can as well.

most shin splints come after running on concrete.paths rods etc etc,the best way is to start running cross country as the earth below provides a natural cushion

Good cushions and try to find some soft grass to run in maybe try jogging on your toes take some ot the shock out of your running and do some good stretching,

Maybe you've over done it and need to take it easy. After a good rest I'd start walking briskly for a while before you start running again. Keep it to short distances

dont push to hard on your running. try brisk walking for 30 minutes before you run

if you do running you should do right sport nutrition. without it you will be in pain.
