I actually felt the same way as your mother when I first got into snakes, but now I have dozens of them. I also breed my own rats and euthanize them weekly in order to feed my snakes.

It is kind of sad and takes a little time to get used to, but eventually you do and it just becomes routine. Keeping them in the freezer is probably the best way to go if your mother can get used to it. You can keep them in a Ziploc bag, then place that in a tupperware container or paper bag so she won't even know they're there. If you get live mice from a feeder store, you may be able to find one that will pre-kill it for you so you just have to bring home the dead mouse to feed to your snake. Also, you might be able to find a reptile store near you that can sell you a frozen mouse. It's a little less convenient to get them like that every week instead of storing them in your freezer, but your mother may be more likely to agree to get a snake that way. Then when it becomes more routine and she gets used to the idea, you can try to convince her to keep them in the freezer.

Good luck!

Have you ever read the book, Extreme Pets? It has every awesome pet in it, plus, a guide to convince your parents to get a pet. Iv'e been trying to convince my mom to let me get a rat, but it hasn't worked yet. Tell her the good things about snakes, like they help your garden, and they aren't slimy or gross.

Eeeeeeewwwwwwww!

How about a kitten or a puppy?

If your Mom's like me, she wont want a snake within 5 miles of the house.

how about an iguana, its a little bit more pricey setting everything up, but its vegetarian, so theres no need for mice. i dont know how to convince your mom but hey, you will eventually move out right? then go and do whatever you please.
