Conflicting maintance codes. What up?

I am also having what seems like misfire issues and stalling on startup.

The mis-fires usually happen when cruising with moderate acceleration. Also the car does not re-start very well after being warmed up and I have to give it extra gas to restart (which also causes fumes - like flooding - on startup).

Possible Causes:
Bad O2 sensor(s)
Bad fuel injector(s)
Bad Catalytic Converter(s) [VERY common on these 2.5L V6 Contour/Mystique/Cougar models]
Vacuum leak (not likely, but still a possibility)
Ignition misfire issues (plugs, wires, coilpack)

Sensors could be bad. Or it could be something else throwing them off (happens frequently in these cars).

How is your mileage? Any other symptoms besides the CEL?

Did you make any changes to your intake setup lately? Mess with the MAF at all? Change anything at all?

I think there are 4 sensors, 2 in each bank, front and rear, can you try a different scan tool, might give a better description

The car has an IMRC or intake manifold runner control. if it is stuck closed or open it will give you those symtoms. Yon may have to replace it as well as tke off intake and clean out the ports.

Could be a bad fuel pressure regulator or vacuum line leaking.
