I have my first real appoinment with my ob/gyn and I was wondering what will happen. I did blood work already and had to miss my last two appointments because of the od/gyn being out the frist time and the second one because my house pile blow. I'm kind of scared and worried.

What happens on your first visit??

scared?? worried?? there is NOTHING to worry about! you get to hear your baby's heartbeat!!
it's a painless procedure!
º they weigh you.
º take you in a room and make you pee in a cup (to test your sugar levels).
º feel your tummy.
º ask you when your last period was.
º give you your due date.
º and let you hear your baby's heartbeat!!!

I love going to my pre-natal appts! I have one on Thurs. and I'm looking forward to it :)

There is no need to worry! This is one of many steps to making sure you have a healthy baby!

It is important to know that every doctor has a different protocol for first visits... Typically all doctors will:

weigh you
take your blood pressure
Get your medical history for both you and your spouse/partner
Do a breast exam
Do a pelvic exam and a pap
You will have blood drawn for lab work
Discuss what to expect during future visits
Answer questions
Give you papers to pre-register at the hospital (if you need to)
Usually you will receive a package of som sort with magazines, and information about pregnancy...

Some doctors will do an ultrasound at the first appointment to date the pregnancy.

Depending on how far along you are they might check for a heart beat with a doppler (some docs don't see you until you are 12 weeks)

Hope this helps!

At my first visit there were a lot of questions about mine and my husbands past. The doctor did a pap and an internal u/s to get a pic. I had bloodwork too.

I had a PAP, blood work, peed in a cup, and was asked about my background. I also told my LMP and they figured out my due date. The doctor also felt my belly to see how things were progressing. :)

They will measure your tummy to see where the baby is sitting, you already did all the bloodwork, usually they give you your due date if you haven't already gotten it, and prescriptions for prenatal vitamins if you haven't already gotten those. It isn't bad, don't worry.

at mine they did a pap, asked alot of questions, took my blood, gave me vitamins, told me some basic information and ordered an ultrasound (to make sure it was not ectopic)
