I am the rising star. I hate my job. I was treated very badly basicall as the office larky until a got a high powered job elsewhere and now everyone want sto be my friend before i leave . they want to "keep in touch"...like we were friends before! so shameless!

If they were too shameless to latch onto a rising star, that would mean they wouldn't latch onto said star. Do you mean why are people so shameless that they shamelessly latch onto rising stars to go along for the ride?
Why? Because everyone does what works. As trite as that sounds, every single one of us does what works in our lives, and if we don't know how to accomplish something ourselves, we'll get where we want to go by tagging along with someone who does know how.

it only means that they thought the question was interesting. if they havent starred your question, then its not interesting. plain and simple
