We have a dragon, he is our first and only Berdie Child. Ozzy is a year old. This last week he started loosing the very end of his tail, and then his foot turned blue along with some of his tail. We doctored his tail and it appears to be fine again. We did alot of research before we got him on how to care for him. However we have not seen anywhere a drangon change blue, is this normal? And if it is how much color is he going to get. He seems very healthy and active, and eats very well. Why is out Berdie blue?

All 4 feet are blue with some on his legs and some on his tail. It is a very nice blue, it is not a sick blue like damage. The coloring is very pretty.

some blues are normal. hopefully you dust the food you give him. i had a beardie that had blue in him. if you check out some beardie breeder sites...some of them have tons of color variations.

OK
First, I am anal so I need to tell you that it is a beardie and not a "berdie", if it is a "berdie" then it is blue because it is a parakeet. Ok, now that I got that off my chest.
Dragons are NOT supposed to be blue in any way shape or form. There is a fungus that can cause them to turn yellow in areas and it's very serious but I have never heard of a blue beardie. The only thing that I can think of is a circulation problem which may, like humans cause them to turn blue. Blue is not a natural color for them, do you by any chance have him on calci-sand that is blue, purple or green? If so, the coloring can come off of the sand and stain your beardie. If you do have him on calci-sand I would remove it since it is also associated with many other health issues. If you do not have anything enviromental that could be leading to the blue coloring then it sounds like it is something circulatory since you say it started and then he lost part of his tail.
Are you sure it is blue and not grayish? If it is actually grayish then you are looking at an impending shed and it was probrably an incomplete shed of the tail that made him lose a portion in the first place. Look here http://www.beardeddragonresource.com/bearded-dragon-tail-rot.html
for info on tail rot as it could become very serious but can be handled with a few easy steps.
The only other thing I can say is that if it is truly blue, not caused by shedding or enviromental issues then I would take him to the vet as soon as possible since you don't want your beardie to lose any more of his appendages.
good luck to you and please let us know how he does.

I have never heard of anything similiar to this orange red brown not blue though. do they seem tender? it would be safe to take him to your vet for nothing more than a wellness checkup. for my three the visits are $35 not to much considering what you have in him already and it will give you peace of mind knowing you have a happy healthy dragon.

You can call your vet and ask him or go to your local pet store
