Anything Special about the Movie?

I saw it...quite a fascinating film dealing with a practice in India where widows are sent to live in colonies, separate from the outside world. They spend their days there together, never getting to socialize or date again. The main character is a little girl who was technically in a marriage of convenience. When her "husband" dies, she's sent to the colony. Eventually she realizes that even though she's eight, her country will never let her live her own life or fall in love with the person of her choosing. Amazingly, this practice still continues to this day.

The movie was nominated for an Oscar because its country of origin submitted it as their official entry.

the only special thing about the movie is that it is revealing the truth
as far as oscars are concerned there are so many movies before this which are being nominated for oscar and that too for NO REASON ..we have a latest example of that its "paheli" last year
in my viewpoint its quite boring but i feel every Indian should watch it because indeed its presenting a mystry a story which most of the Idians are not aware of....its clearly featuring whatevre is being going on at such a sacred place

One should watch this movies as its fairly close to the undivluged authenticity

yes..watched it and loved it. although it is a disturbing movie. deals with the problems that widows faced in the 1940s i believe and r still facing, although it is not so out in the open these days. it is very touching and as i mentioned before, disturbing too. it shows how man-made traditions have destroyed thousands of lives, and taken away the childhoods of many many young girls.
