Anyone know how long this process could possibly take and how long recovery will be? My boyfriend has to have 9 teeth extracted plus alveoplasty. All of this is only on the top teeth (not doing the bottom just yet). Any info appreciated.

My husband had top and bottoms done at the same time. He was in surgery for 2 hours. Recovery depends on each person. He was feeling better after about 1 week but could not eat much. Make sure he takes vitamins and drinks some sort of nutritional supplement. He was fitted for dentures 1 week after his surgery but did not get the final set for 6 weeks. It takes several fittings to get the proper fit. He will feel so much better when it is all over.

Your boyfriend will have to eat soft food like applesauce, mashed potatoes, any kind of bread that is soft, and maybe baby food from a jar. He will have to go back a lot of times for the fittings of his denture on the top until it feels right. Your boyfriend might feel okay in a week after he has the teeth extracted.
