Answers has confirmed my suspicions that the vast majority of people out there are trying to help, and a few people out there seem to have a goal to detract from, insult, or ridicule others for good reason.
I was surpised at how some people will actively respond to a question even if they clearly have no idea what they're talking about, and yet they are given as much credence as someone who might be an expert in the field.
Part of the problem with Yahoo answers is the point system. People will do things just for points, whether it's helpful or not, which is against the very spirit of Answers. So even though we might be getting plenty of responses, this is not exactly a fair cross-section of humanity as these answers are, in a way, solicited.

I've learned a lot.
Answers has showed me that newspapers are outdated and way too opinionated for their own good. It has shown me that though many people think like I do, there is always a perfectly reasonable argument against.
This can be a great way to establish common ground during an argument. Accept the fact that, though you may feel your opponent is wrong, just backtrack and realise that their reasoning has as much merit as your own.
Answers is also a great source for knowledge, with so many people sharing their knowledge, it becomes a worldwide haven of enlightenment.
Though I could never claim to actually 'know' anyone on here, I always feel a sense of personal satisfaction while providing an answer, like helping a lifelong friend.

The only "impact" is that this site further proves that there is no rhyme nor reason to society......there are good people, bad people and out right idiots........this site only confirms what any intelligent person already knows.....the nice thing about the site is you can obtain information that you may not otherwise be able to acquire (primarily due to not really knowing where to look) dont get me wrong..i do enjoy the site, and find it very educational at times...but it hasn't had any impact on how i view society as a whole......
as i said
it confirms what any reasonable person should already know, that being that some people are trully helpful, and knowledgable, some people have good ideas, and opinions, and some people are just miserable human being, taking any oppurtunity they get to prove it!!!

It just proved to me that I don't really like other people that much, at least on here, the avatars are quite attractive and I don't HAVE to answer the questions, you only talk to who you want, I think it's great. I try not to venture out into the big bad world too much, because I'm really not a people person. i have a few friends, but that's pretty much it for me. Bad eh?

We see other peoples opinions and their views of society at some points...but I wouldn't say that we are gaining to much of an insight to their mind.

I have been disappointed at the poor decision making, selfishness, superficiality, and blatant gross misuse and abusive language and openly hateful.
Seems like when people feel that they have some degree of anonymity, it means "open season" on whomever about whatever.
I no more know what is going on in their heads, nor do I wish to know. That is between them and God.

I agree with you to some extent. I keep thinking someone will come walking into my office!! Of course, that is impossible, but it is a surrealistic feeling. Know what I mean?

Not really, it just confirmed what I originally thought. That there are lots of sensitive, intelligent people in the world and there are an equal amount of brainless morons.
