The 5-paragraph essay; tell the reader what you are going to tell him, give three examples and then tell the reader what you've told him.

You don't have to concentrate on ALL of the impact of the media on young people. You could pick one part.

Paris Hilton and people like her are making young girls think being a stupid worthless s_l_u_t is a valid career goal; young women are dressing to show off their body in a sexual way, then wondering why the men they meet don't ever think about anything but sex.

Video games in which young men kill people over and over again are de-sensitizing young men to violence.

The Internet is making it harder and harder for repressive regimes to brainwash young people.

Picture phones, in the industrialized west at least, are making young people feel like they are involved - almost as if they were junior (volunteer) reporters.

Pick one sub-topic and find three examples. Use those three in the middle three paragraphs.

Since I don't know what your content is going to be it's a little difficult to help. Here is how I taught my Job Corps students how to write their essays:
Paragraph 1: Restate the topic and give 3 reasons why.
Your 3 reasons create the body of your essay. Example:There are many ways the mass media impacts the personality development of youth. (1) Fashion is important to young people and "what is in" influences the buying habits of youth in all cultures. (2) Popularity is always at the forefront of the thought process of youth. Entertainment shows and movies play a huge role in what behaviors young people believe to be "cool." (3) Even the news impacts what the youth of today considers important or not.

Paragraph 2-Describe and give examples of why you believe ads influence how young people dress.

Paragraph 3-Describe and give examples of why you believe movies can influence the attitudes and behaviors of young people.

Paragraph 4-Describe and give examples of how you think the way news stories regarding young people can influence behaviors and fads.

Paragraph 5 Conclusion-Restate your premise and summarize each paragraph you've written in one or two sentences.

Hope this helps! Try not to wait so long next time Kiddo! Writing is a process, and good writing takes time. Good luck! Annie

Every essay can follow a general rule which can follow a general outline:

1 Introduction
a First point you want to make about the subject
b second point, or subsequent point.

2) Begin discussion of first point.

a Here is wher eyou lay out your informaiton on your first point. Explaining what it is, where you got the information adn its importance in your essay.

b. Take the inforamtion and make your points, as to what you find and what it means. Back up your statements with information from other sources.

3. Begin discussion of second point or subsequent point.

A and b same as under #2.

4 - Bring both points together in a discussion of what they mean, why you chose them and what you're trying to state.

a If there is aproblem here is where you begin discussion of the solution.

b. Your solutions probable outcome.

5 - Conclusion. Possibly extrapolate what your points will mean for a future generations and it's need for your solution.

You should work on your spelling before anything else.
Turn in your essay with a bunch of spelling errors and the content won't much matter.
