Congratulations, Kristin! Are you the class valedictorian? It's an honor to make a graduation speech and you're smart to start working on it this early (I am assuming, of course that you graduate in May or June).

Two things to remember before you start out: #1, you are almost obligated to thank your parents and teachers somewhere in your speech. #2, briefer is better in all speeches.

Your subject can be anything you like and some suggestions are the following: ending one phase and beginning a new one, celebrating achievement together, looking forward with hope and excitement. Write down whatever comes to your mind when you think about those ideas and see how you can put them together into a 5 minute speech. OR, go humorous...talk about the pranks you and your friends pulled off during school, the funny things that have happened over the years, all the silly advice you've received this year about what classes to sign up for and how to behave in your next level of education.

When you have written what you think is a good speech, take it to your English teacher for help correcting grammar and such. Then PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE! Give your speech to your family at the dinner table, to your dog when you take him for a walk, to your friends at slumber parties...get used to speaking it out loud and to pacing yourself (and get used to speaking in front of a group of people). Don't speak too fast or too softly. You want everyone to hear and understand your words.

Good Luck!

If there were ever a time to dare,

To make a difference

To embark on something worth doing

It is now.

Not for any grand cause, necessarily –

But for something that tugs at your hear

Something that is worth your aspiration

Something that is your dream.

You owe it to yourself

To make your days count.

Have fun. Dig deep. Stretch.

Dream big.

Know, though,

That things worth doing

Seldom come easy,

There will be times when you want to

Turn around

Pack it up and call it quits

Those times tell you

That you are pushing yourself

And that you are not afraid to learn by trying.

Persist.

Because with an idea,

Determination and the right tools,

You can do great things.

Let your instincts, your intellect

And let your heart guide you.

Trust.

Believe in the incredible power

Of the human mind

Of doing something that makes a difference

Of working hard

Of laughing and hoping

Of lasting friends

Of all the things that will cross your path

Next year

The start of something new

Brings the hope of something great.

Anything is possible

There is only one you

And you will pass this way but once.

Do it right.

a thanks to no longer problem: save your self busy, do not imagine about all of it the time, have exciting, that's the accurate of the school year!!! (i know i'm celebrating) a thanks to make it exciting: Use a sturdy hook! in case you capture their interest in the starting up, they're more beneficial likely to pay interest, also, do not communicate in a monotone voice, and use hand gestures, be captivating and humorous, have a sturdy time, and if all else fails, photograph the target market of their undies!
