I would say screens and the power jack are the weak-point of most laptops in normal use. I've seen many laptops with screens that do odd things, eventually needing to be replaced, at certain angles. Often the jack where the power adapter is plugged into the laptop will become loose, and cease to function.

number one weakness is probably battery life
people who buy these 19" and 20" laptops are complete idiots
it beats the whole purpose of a laptop beacuse you have to be plugged in alot
also a bigger hard drive is pointless too
bigger hdd= more battery used
dont get a desktop CPU either go for mobile unless you want more power
so buy a good batter and even a few extra's if you can
another weakness is the screen
BUY A WARRENTY definiatly
its the most forgot thing when buying a laptop
if the screen brakes, you might as well buy a new laptop if you dont have a warrenty
also the thin and light notebook are crap
i know from experience that they break if a pin drops on the (an expression)
over all the best laptops i would say is the HP DV6000 and DV9000
they have decent batterylife and good CPU speeds, upgradable but a little pricey

Screens have issues as they knocked about etc and from my experience the fan slots tend to be on the bottom (not the best place for a LAPTOP to have them) causing them overheat quite easilly. Unless you spend a decent wedge on it you wont be impressed.

to many laptop casing's are undersized.
They need to be a bit bigger, wider, and deeper, to allow better cooling channel's and air flow.
This is an annoyance on laptop's that are'nt exactly cheap...
