Personally, I've only ever seen three mosques in real life. One was a converted Christian church and the other two were custom built. They all looked VERY different.
I don't think that the buildings are really what you're asking about here. While I think it is good that minority communities have their own meeting places, I also think that ALL organised religions are a cancer on society and an ugly blot on the future of humanity.

No, I don't agree. Some Mosques are beautiful buildings.

Some buildings are blots on the landscape but all denominations, not just Mosques.

I mean, before they put the trendy lighting up (whioch does look cool) the National Theatre was a blot on the landscape (althought wonderfully designed inside and brilliant theatre)

Zip it, Zippy!!! (Only joking, you have the right to your opinion!)

architecturally no, unless they are not in keeping with the height and positioning of surrounding buildings, if you need to structure an important route around a large building that adds twenty minutes to your original journey then any building that stands in the way of a logical transportation map is a problem solving opportunity.

Our local mosque is a beautiful Victorian red brick converted church. It was converted because the indigenous population wasn't interested in their religion and now it has a new lease of life as a community place of worship. What would you rather they'd done with it? Knock it down and build a block of flats?
