Conservatives - let me know if I should not be so enthused by his stances. He seems to be Newt without the political black eye and Huckabee with more name recognition. I was getting anxious that our front runners weren't Reaganesque enough for me.

My only concern is how little I know about him which bring me to part two of my question:

Liberals, since it's what you do best, give me the worst dirt you have on the guy. Yes, I'm sincerely asking you! I don't want the issues, we won't agree on them anyway. I want whatever scandalous, immoral, character flawed informatin you can provide. As far as I know, he's squeeky clean, but I don't know much.

Steve C. - You're right and I apologize, I should not have overgeneralized. I should have used qualifying language like - MOST liberals are talented mud-slingers, a tactic to which SOME conservatives also stoop. I gave you a thumbs up in http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AgZp1ExMXKgl8pcfHKceH6kAAAAA?qid=20070313071653AAhE8Nl&show=7#profile-info-056a1d58c31a7773983990a0f6f88fa9aa There's a first time for everything!

I am very VERY excited about Thompson for President! And I truly appreciate your comparison between him and Newt/Huckabee! His political stance and the whole actor thing....totally Reaganesque! I look forward to learning more about him! You Tube has some GREAT clips regarding Mr. Thompson's stances and strong platforms!

Yes, I am very excited about it . I just heard the other day that he was possibly running .
If he doesn't run, Rudy will take it in a landslide . but I'd rather have Fred !!

BTW, Friends and I discuss the many possibilities of the 2008 elections . Some may scoff at my 'Rudy landslide' thing, but if one has the time, you can figure it out for yourself . Hillary is 'damaged goods' and has the highest NON-approval in history . Obama is fresh, clean, articulate, and new.. . but when voting time rolls around, and people are standing in that voting booth, they'll remember what's the #1 issue in America. . . .National Security . And despite his popularity now, most won't give him the reins when it comes to protecting our lives . He'll probably run again in 2012, and he'll probably do better. . .. but not now Charlie !!

As of now, unless I find out something new, I am completely pumped about it. His position on the issues that I know about are:
Pro-life, would like to see RvW overturned
Pro 2nd Amendment
Anti gay marriage, though I think he wants to leave civil unions to the states.
He supports the surge, I want to know more about his stance on the War on Terror.
I know he was instrumental in the confirmation process of John Roberts to SCOTUS, so that should tell us about his stance on the judicial branch.

Anyone know any more?

I remember all the "he's a washed up actor" cr@p several decades ago. And we got RONALDUS MAXIMUS!

Not sure Fred can compare exactly to Reagan, but can he come close??

Please quit labeling liberals, as it just makes you look uninformed . I am a liberal, but I liked Reagan. I don't really know much about Thompson, other than he was good on Law and Order. he seems like a smart guy though. Will have to learn more about him before I can make an informed judgement.

Fred Thompson would make a fine President. We finally have a real conservative.

I would love it to happen. Fred Thompson for president with John McCain or Brownback for VP.
