I recently became sexually active (in January). Before Jan 2007 my periods were usually of 5 days (exact) and they would begin as heavy for first 2 days and then decrease the following three and end at the end of the 5th day.

After when I became sexually active, I found that my periods have changed. I now get my periods for exactly 3 days, heavy flow on the first day and decreasing on the next 2 and then stops. I also have spotting for 2-3 days before periods which was normally not present before.

I have had three such periods (3 months) and I am worried. Although, we used condoms (everytime) and I did 2 pregnancy tests 1 day before my periods and they were negative. Am I pregnant or do preiods change after first time sex?

Please help.

the changes in your period could be due to a lot of things. yes sex can change them, stress can change them, also just getting older can change them... the human body is very ficle like that any small change can change a lot of things.

Sexual activity, unless resulting in pregnancy, should not affect your cycle. Hormonal changes, extreme exercise, weight loss/gain, disease, etc....CAN change your cycle, however. You should probably be seen by a gynecologist just to settle your nerves, if nothing else. Stress can wreck havoc with your menstrual cycle, and you have had some very recent big changes in your life.

Mine never changed. But remember EVERY woman is different. If you are receiving your periods and they are a normal flow to you I am sure you are fine. Normal flow meaning, blood that is red lasting longer than 2 days and sometimes clots.

It really depends with people, in some cases one can miss their period BUT will not be pregnant and in some cases, the period may be delayed but still not pregnant. Since you have had you periods regularly I guess it's nothing to worry about.

Pretty much any change can mess with your periods. I doubt you are pregnant, but the just the stress from thinking you might be can mess them up. Keep being safe!

Your periods can also change because your hormones are changing. Expect other radical changes in your periods before they finally even out in your 20's.
