There is no answer to that question. Music is a personal preference, and what one person considers the best, may not hold true for the next person. There are other ways to judge success of a band...record sales, awards, etc. But even winning the most awards and selling the most records doesn't mean they are the best, it just means they were popular. It is possible that the best band ever, never had a record deal, and we have never heard them.

The genius known as Bob Dylan... when he came out, he changed music forever... He influenced everybody from The Beatles to U2... His songs have been covered by hundreds of people and have been chart topping hits for them... For instance, Bob's song "Blowin' in the Wind" has been covered at least 100 times (and counting) by different artists... Now if Mega Bands like Beatles and U2 bow down to worship the work of Bob Dylan, that is saying something!!

not a band, but Ben Harper. i almost want to cry when i listen to him. i have so many memories tied in to all of his songs that it creates this intense emotional experience for me when i hear it. yup.
