I've looked on the internet and I've never worn a pair so I want to make sure that stretch doesn't mean tight.

I would go to a store and try on a pair labeled as such. You would then know whether to buy your regular size or bigger. I bought a pair of stretch slacks, my regular size, hoping they would fit snuggly but they didn't. I would have been better off a couple of sizes smaller.

Stretch jeans are jeans made from denim that contains Lycra or other spandex fiber -- from 1%-5%. Stretch doesn't automatically mean "tight," the fit will depend on the cut of the jeans and the size you buy. The great thing about stretch jeans is that they hold their shape better than jeans made from 100% cotton denim.

It means they have some lycra in them so they they can stretch a little bit.So they are not 100% cotton they have about 5% lycra added to them
Ridgid jeans do not have any lycra added to them they are just 100% cotton
Stretch jeans are very comfortable to wear as they give a bit more.
You can get them in syles like skinny fit or bootcut

In the UK, stretch jeans don't look any different to 'normal' jeans, but hold their shape much better, (don't go baggy at the bottom or knees.) They're also more comfortable to wear, as the waist 'gives' a little, ie, doesn't cut off your circulation! I have some, they're great.

I wouldn't call stretch, tight. It just means that the material used actually stretches when you move. If you take the material in both hands, you can pull it and it will stretch. I hope this answers your question.

It could mean that, but it also means jeans that stretch in areas where they might be tight, to offer more comfort. Best to check it out.

Stretch typically means tight looking, but stretchy enough to breathe.

Stretch Jeans means jeans that are very tight. They look really uncomfertable, and they are hard to move in.

In Short:
Yes they are tight. Very, very tight.

It is to do with the elasticity in the fabric that determines if your jeans are stretch or not.

If they are stretch you will be able to stretch the fabric with fingers. Generally they are more comfortable to wear.
