For the last 2 days my top ribs on my left side have been killing me. I have not been sick. When I move, breath, cough, sneeze, anything but sit still it kills. It is right where my bra line is. So it is not like it is the baby. What could it be?

That's a great question. I'm 26 weeks and last night I noticed the same thing. I know he's been kicking and moving a lot so my ribs are a little sore. But that doesn't explain why my bra line is tender as well. The only thing I'm thinking it might be from is posture. I don't think I'm sitting up straight enough and the slouching is putting pressure on the top of my abdomen and bra area.

Good luck and again great question I'll be looking for some answers myself. :)

I am sure, as your stomach and uterus expands it shifts some of the organs a bit higher plus the pushing on your ribs and diaphragm have something to do with. Also your bra might be getting to small and pinching. I went through the same thing and once I took of my bra I started itching and looked at my bra line and it was red and sore. Got a bigger bra, didn't really solve the whole problem but it was a bit better. You need to start breathing a bit deeper too, it will help with the diaphragm.

Make an appointment with your physician. In the mean time, it could be something as simple as your body adjusting to a growing child. Or, you might have fractured a rib.....people have been known to fracture ribs while coughing. If it hurts while breathing, you need to be examined. If it is broken, it could puncture a lung. But this is just one possibility. You could have an inflammation, or if up by the shoulder, it could be what is known as a "referred" pain. That is when an illness originates in another part of the body (usually liver or gall bladder) but you actually feel pain in the left shoulder/chest area.

Actually it could be the baby. Both of my boys were long babies and they kicked and pressed on my diaphragm which causing stabbing pains by my lungs (at my bra's band line). When it happened if I was able to lie down it helped me. I also brought my arms over my head to help stretch out the torso and give me more room to breathe.

BUT, I'm no doc. Call you OB's office and describe the pain. You will probably speak whit a nurse and they will tell you what is happening, or if they want to see you.

If it is baby, you will be out of breath much of the 9th month. Nothing bad, just annoying. Take care!

Your baby is pushing up on your ribs and sternum. This is normal. Your baby is just carrying high. It might get a little more uncomfortable as your pregnancy progresses because the baby is only going to get bigger. On the other hand, the baby could move down giving you a little more relief.

no its because all of your insides(organs and such)are moving up to make room for the babys growth so everything is getting crammed together which is creating the soreness/pain. I went through the same thing it is very common. also the baby turns all around and kicks everything inside which contributes to the pain also.

The baby could be pushing your ribs. I would say to ask your doctor or have it checked in a sonogram, to be sure, for the baby's sake and yours!
