They have never had 2 losses in a row since starting 0-4! But this is the #2 team in the NBA!

Let's make it clear: the mavericks will NOT lose to the suns on Wednesday night.

You wonder why? Simple: because they have already won 2 against that team.

Dallas seems to be playing better basketball when they play against better teams... Like Phoenix for example. But here's the deal: if they can't score, Phoenix will eat them out. But I doubt that will happen.

You said it, they haven't lost 2 in a row since starting 0-4. And besides Golden State, they have never lost 2 to the same team either. But you're right, the Suns are the #2 seed and they'll be motivated as hell to win against Dallas.

I say the Mavs will win it though. They are already 2-0 against Phoenix and since Phoenix is not a really good defensive team, I don't think they stand a chance.

Personally, I don't think that they'll lose to Phoenix, especially not at home on national TV. As bad as the game was last night (I watched every painful second of it, listening to the commentators scream in delight play after play, playing replay after replay), that WASN'T the Mavs that was playing. Avery admitted to it. One thing that sets Avery above most coaches today, is that he is a nip, tuck and tweak kind of guy. He can make more adjustments than a velcro belt. Believe it or not, I think that this was good for them. Of course I hated to see the streak end like it did, but let's say that they did beat Golden State, then turn around and lose at home to Phoenix? I think THAT would be tougher to swallow. The Mavs need some home cooking while they defend the nest, and here's some keys for that to happen.

1. MVP debate- 2-time winner Steve Nash faces his best friend and former teammate in what I think will be the deciding factor in who will be in the driver's seat for the MVP. Both will have to be leaders for their respective teams in order to pull this game off.

2. Irresistable force vs. Immovable object- Phoenix's offense can steamroll over a good portion of the league. The Mavs faced the poor-man's version in Golden State. In their 2 games the Mavs averaged 110 points, while the Suns averaged 105 points. The Mavs will need rely on their defense more than ever to slow down the Suns.

3. The "Brazillian Blur" vs. Devin Harris. I'm sorry I don't have a nickname for him yet, so I know it's not catchy. But expect this to be a matchup beyond matchups. Don't be surprised to see Devin with an sense of urgency to be more agressive and a newly discovered confidence in his jump shot.

4. I-35 - yes I-35 is the interstate that runs though downtown Dallas to the American Airlines Arena, but also is the Magic number in the 2 Dallas wins over Phoenix. Dirk scored 35 in the first meeting, and Jet Terry scored 35 in the 2nd. J-Ho, you next? (Can you say career high?)

5. Meeting of the minds- Mike D'Antoni and Avery Johnson are the 2 previous coaches of the year. This will be a chess match. This will be the ultimate matchup.

Dallas is favored to win, and either way, it's going to be a great game to watch. Phoenix has a lot of trouble containing Dirk (much like almost every other team out there) on the defensive end, but I have a very good feeling that Nash, Marion, and Amare are gonna "turn it on" against such a tough opponent. Plus, Dallas is coming off a pretty embarassing loss, so they can react by either- A) Getting angry and just playing their asses off against the Suns, B) Getting frustrasted with the loss, and trying to get back into the swing of things, which Phoenix isn't the best team to do that against.
I want to pick Phoenix in this one, but it's less likely. Can't wait to watch!

Who ever said the Suns don't have th speed to beat Dallas is on Crack.
Thats the Suns Advantage. If it turns into a track meet its Suns but if the Mavs want to grind it out its Dallas. 6 games series last year (without Amare) were all dictated on Tempo.
Dallas is deeper but no one really wants to run and gun with Phoenix.
Dallas is looking awful tough this year, however this is a ststement game for both teams. Gonna be a good one.

Mavs will obviously win, cuz the mavs have done really well this year. Suns, even though they have Stoudemire now, still won't win cuz they don't have the potential and speed to beat Mavs. Plus they don't have the defense that can hold off the Mavs.

NO WAY!!! Not after what happened last night. The suns don't have a chance. I wonder if Josh Howard's girlfriend Corita will be there I'm dying to see what she looks like. GO MAVS!!!

i think they should win. they get to rest for a day and im sure avery isnt letting them hear the end of it after losing to golden state again. warriors beat them twice already this year, and 3 out of 4 last year and have won 7 of the last 11. no other team has done that to dallas.
