You are in a relationship and although you want to respect your partners thoughts and wishes you may not agree with them. Has an occasion ever arisen when this happened, and although you believed you were respectfully disagreeing, your male partner acused you of being his victimiser. Any advice please.

It's called emotional abuse. He is feigning victimhood....screwing with your head in order to control you. It's 'crazy making' behavior with the intent to deceive, trip you up and get you off balance. This is a typical abuser tactic and a big 'red flag'. I wish I could tell you different, but from what you wrote, it's not good news. Don't start questioning yourself...because that's percisely what he wants....to mentally weaken you. If you don't address this right away you'll be heading down a slippery slope. Sounds like he has some issues that you're not aware of. Be careful.

Be careful not to get in a heated debate over something. If you can calmly and rationally express your opinion, it will come off more valid. Make sure to listen and appreciate his opinion. Sometimes making a little bit of space through silence and thought helps you to more effectively express yourself (think about what you are about to say before spouting off). This little practice has drastically affected my communication skills.

In the modern soceity men and women have equal rights and responsibilites (from the legal standpoint). Certainly women get accused of being abusive to men all the time.

Depending on time frame, yes.

In Medieval Europe a husband could legally beat his wife. I'm sure some were just of a different opinion.
