I'd really like to know why jets parked right across the river from Manhattan were not scrambled on 9/11. Why did they get jets from an airfield four hundred miles away.

I have no real theory as to why this happened, just the overwhelming certitude that it makes no real sense.

I'd also like to know what was done with the black boxes the fire department says they recovered from ground zero, and what was on the flight controllers tapes that the investigators insisted on destroying.

While we're at it, I'd love to know where D. Rumsfeld was that morning.

Going back a bit deeper into history, I'd love to know who the first intelligence officer in the US was who learned that the Nazi's were running death camps, and what made them not report it...

One mystery I'd like solved is whatever happened to the use of proper punctuation. Reading your question, and the questions of many others, requires patience trying to parse the sentence so it makes sense. I'm making a pact to myself not to answer any questions that require me to read it more than once to understand it. And I'm starting that today. I will say that it's nice to see a question in the history section that is not somebody's homework.
