I flew in a 22 passengar plane during an internal Kenya flight. It was great, except when they tried to land. The pilot "buzzed" the runway (a dirt strip in the middle of nowhere). Then he circled around for the real landing.
My advice, take the extra time, and enjoy a thrilling ride in a land vehicle

Wilson Airport is in Nairobi and Mombasa is a different town in coast. Masai Mara has Keekorok, Siana, Ol’ Kiombo, Serena, Musiara, Ngerende Airstrips which can only handle small twin-engine aircrafts, mostly we use like charter Cessna 310, Cessna 404 and Beechcraft Baron which are five seaters. It will take you about half an hour from Wilson airport to Masai Mara covering a distance of 330 kilometres from Nairobi.

mostly Cessnas and 5-7 seaters. There are local operators using light aircrafts( 20-22 seaters) as well.Wilson airport is in Nairobi and the flight time is about 30-45 mins.
I would suggest the road route from Nairobi. Best time to visit Mara is during June-mid august when the wildebeest migration takes place. Once you are in mara, you can go for a baloon trip which takes you up early in the morning to see teh herds grazing and the big cats hunting.
