If the transmission is already failing don't bother switching to a synthetic transmissision fluid. The synthetic fluids are known to clean out the build up and could cause more damage than it could do good. Keep using what you have always been using until it fails and then when you get your new one use synthetic from the start. As the next guy mentioned, Lucas additive would be good if the transmission was working fine however if it is failing the additive will not do anything.

Synthetic and Dino fluid of any type are the same thickness, but obviously, synth is more expensive--too expensive to have your truck puking it out on the ground.
It really sounds more like you might be overfilling it...

The only cure for a failing transmission is a rebuild.

synthetic is a thin lubricant..if your tranny is leaking it will make it worse...find the leak..if the tranny is still working.go to shop today. it will only get worse..sounds like a pressure problem..
