I've had two c-sections. The first one was a breeze but the second one was a disaster. I ended up having to have two blood transfusions two days after my second child was born, seven days after he was born, my incision opened up. Six weeks later I was back in the hospital for a week getting the infected incision operated on. It sucked!
Now, my advice to you is this: Take the labor. Yeah, it's gonna hurt, I won't sugar coat that. But, and this is what I've heard, the pain and the memory of the pain starts diminishing.
However, if you do have to have another C-section, find out from your doctor if you can go to the hospital and donate yourself some blood on the off chance you might need it after the operation. If you don't end up needing the blood, it can always go to someone else who's in need of it.
I wish someone had told me these options when I was pregnant the second time!

If protein has been found in your urine, you need to go to an OB/GYN to get your blood pressure checked and another urine test. If they come back out of the normal range and with protein, they will order blood tests to determine pre-eclampsia. If you do have toxemia, you will be put on bed rest and monitored weekly at a hospital. As far as a vaginal birth after a c-section, that is very dangerous and most doctors will not allow you to do so, due to the complications. There is a very good chance that your scars will reopen. Please find yourself a doctor soon. You may not have pre-eclampsia again, but a doctor will be able to provide you and your baby with the care you need. Good Luck!

Is this YOUR choice to deliver naturally? It just sounds to me like you are scared about what might or could possibly happen. There are no guarantees either way, but it seems that it would be safer and less stressful to just have another c-section. They always encourage natural birth after c-section, but it is your choice...take the c-section...you'll thank me later! I'm only saying all this from experience. I've had three children, the first by emergency c-section. They told me numerous times to have natural births with the other two, but I put my foot down and told them that with the complications of my first child, that I wasn't putting myself or my baby through that again. So, they scheduled a c-section. At least that way you know what is to come...like I said, less stress for the both of you.

Go with the natural labor as long as you can. The classes didn't help me at all. Yes, it hurts, but you can get an epidural if you are in a hospital. If you aren't in a hospital, yes it hurts, but the hurt is gone pretty much right after you deliver, unlike the pain of an incision.
As far as your midwife goes, this is your body. You have a right to get all the answers you need. If she doesn't give them to you, even at this stage, I would go to another doctor or midwife.

When you're not getting the right answers from your current situation, it's time to change it!! This is a serious situation that can be fatal when not properly taken care of. I think you should make an appointment with an OB/GYN. As for going it naturally, it's your body! No one has the right to tell you to go through something that you're not ready for. If you want the meds, go for them! As long as the doctor says it will not interfere with you or the baby, do what you think is right. Your situation seems complicated enough as it is. Worrying about going natural should NOT be added to your plate! Good luck!!

Why are they not offering you the classes? Is it your insurance? or your Doc? Find out and start asking questions. If your doc/midwife is not answering them, you don't have to stay with them. Doctors think they are in charge and they are not. You have every right to control your health decisions and your baby's. If your insurance is interfering with your getting the classes you want then contact them, again they can refuse to pay but they can not keep you out of the class(but be prepared to pay for it yourself). Way to many people just listen to whatever their doctors tell them and don't go out and research for themselves. You don't have to put up with it. Just because you started your pregnancy with this doc does not mean you have to stay with them throughout, if you decide to switch docs to the office and request a copy of all your records so your new doc will be able to see what tests you have already went through and the results. Good luck to you and your baby.

Proteinuria can be an indicator of preeclampsia, but if they really suspect it, they will do a 24 hour urine sample. Losing small amounts of protein is pretty common though.
I had 2 children without taking the classes. All you have to remember is breath out harder than you breath in to get rid of carbon dioxide buildup.

Wow my situation is so similar, I have a boy, who's 5 now, he was born trough c-section, second baby I had a year ago, a girl, she came naturally, no complications, I was so proud of myself that I could go trough this and experience real labour, it was very scary for me too...so I'm wishing you all the best, blessings too.

somebody is screwing you big time. i know in the hospitals in wa if you have had a c-section, they wont even let you go natural if you want. and anyone can sign up for "refresher" classes for childbirth. recommend checking with your insurance about a new doc who will listen to you.

I didn't think that the classes help much. But other people do. As far as being pre-eclamsia now, they will probably put you on bed rest if you are till they deliver you.
