I personally do not think they are solving a thing.

*Will* work and *can* work are different things. Talks *can* work if failure to comply with inspections results in increased pressure and escalating sanctions, including the credible threat of appropriate military action (meaning something short of an invasion/regime change).

Whether they *will* work remains to be seen. Iran seems to have little to no intention of making concessions, and the irrational saber-rattling and apocalpytic diatribes of its leadership are very worrying. The good news is that there seems to be some growing dissent in Iran about compliance with international inspections, etc. Given time, diplomatic pressure and sanctions may produce the intended result. Iran is not Iraq, and it took many, many years of failed sanctions, inspections and exchange of hostile fire in the no-fly zone to get to where we are today. It will likely be years before we get there with Iran, and indications are we have time to give diplomacy a chance before they have the ability to produce weapons-grade material.

it would have worked a lot better if we actually had a big stick to carry. After the debacle in iraq we are a laughing stock, even among the people who dont hate us. If we had just stayed the course in afghanistan no country in the nearest three continents would dare say boo to us, not after we invaded a country and crushed the ruling government like they were a bunch of baby cockroaches because they took money from some terrorist group and allowed them to run around in the mountains. They may seem like a bunch of crazy fanatics to us, but all those regimes have one thing in common, they enjoy being king. Talks could work, but at this point we will have to play the nuclear card, they arent really afraid of us like they should be anymore.

They will probably work as well as talks with all the looney states went in the past. We will be lucky if they dont result in world war three. Iran does not care it they start a war, they dont seem to care if they are vaporized for jihad or not, and any deal made with them will not be honored, so it is a waste of time. If they can be contained, and surgical strikes made on their nuclear capability, perhaps a disaster can be held off untill sanity comes to that country, if it ever does.

We're going to have to wait and see if the talks help. What's the alternative? I think nukin' them might be a little bit of over-kill.

Every conversation about the middle east is vague. I am not seeing nor hearing facts. Occasionally I run in to a talk show on the radio with an actually Military Personal that know what is going on. What I heard was appalling.

These are the facts so far as I have been privy to.

The president of the United States goes on television and declares war. With out the cooperation or consulting the pressure valve put in place, the United Nations and United States Congress as if they have fired a nuclear bomb and war against America has begun.

To later find they have no Weapons of Mass destruction.

The media showed white trucks leaving a large building out the back door as the US inspectors come in the front. Indicating the weapons are being removed as US arrives.

It is reported that the people of the Middle East are harboring terroristt. We are the terrorist. According to the Military Personnel in charge of directing where we dropped 55,000 bombs. It was approved that the civilian and middle eastern deaths are not reported. Each bomb reportedly would have a maximum civilian death toll of 30. His trip to the middle east Baghdad to check on his accuracy brought pride and heartache. His bomb dropped on Saddam's palace went all the way through to the underground enforced bunker.

On the way out of the palace he ran into an elderly man who claimed to have lost 17 of his family members half the total of civilians for 1 bomb.

The media and president state this country is a threat because they have Weapons of Mass destruction.

All of America backs the presidents decision to go to war based on Iraq's possession of Weapons of Mass destruction and that they hijacked American Airplanes and crashed them in to Selected targets.

Later we find that the attacks on American soil had been orchestrated by are own people.

The military rounds up several hundred middle eastern men. We assume these are terrorist. For sum reason they never try to convince anyone these are in fact terrorist they deny them the chance to profess their innocence. or for our government to provide proof they are terrorist. I have to assume they are not terrorist or this would have been a big news story telling us all the evil these men were party to.

Again we turn out to be the terrorist, torturing and raping and filming these men naked. Holding probably ordinary citizens in Guantanamo Bay. Citizens of the United States work diligently for years to seek justice.

So what exactly have we accomplished?

Terrorism continues around the world.

Terrorism has been used as an excuse to deprive us of our freedom with in the United States. Privacy, travel,

The money for this war could have paid for health care for all and still have 30% left facts from ION Life Tom Brokaw last night March 13, 2007.

I would not have lost my house. My family would not be with out health care. Not to mention increasing the need for health care by bringing home injured soldiers.

Do you know what England did rather than participate in this war. The installed 1 million dollars worth of cameras on light poles keeping track of all license plates of all cars entering England.

We hung a leader of another for reportedly killing 150 people against his regime and we went there and have killed in excess of 600,000.

What do you want to talk to them about?

Say your sorry.

We will provide you with the funds rebuild your city and lives we destroyed.

It might have a better chance than threatening to blow Iran into the stone age.

Talks are great but we better understand we need to back up our words if talks break down.

I think it is a good start.
