The only thing a baby at that age needs is breast milk or formula unless a Dr recommends something else. Breast milk and formula or mostly water so your baby willnot dehydrate. Plain water can actually dilute their blood and can harm them.

You can only give the baby milk right now. You want your baby to grow properly. Some parents give their babies alot of things that aren't good for their tiny bodies right now. The next thing you should try giving your baby is some infants or baby water maybe about 4 to 5 months. Just a little bit.
Just so they can have something new and different and like to drink water. You can try that.

you can give a newborn water if you like, but it is not necessary to give a newborn 'til 3 months old anything other than milk because thats where they would get all the nutrients if they are being properly fed. until your baby is eating solid foods than there really is no need for water.
between 4 to 7 months old, this is the time to intruduce your baby to solid foods and also juice. a doctor could tell you better whether or not your baby is ready.
Some foods are generally withheld until later. Do not give eggs, cow's milk, citrus fruits and juices, and honey until after a baby's first birthday.Fish and seafood, peanuts and peanut butter, and tree nuts are also considered allergenic for infants, and shouldn't be given until after the child is 2 or 3 years old, depending on whether the child is at higher risk for developing food allergies. A child is at higher risk for food allergies if one or more close family members have allergies or allergy-related conditions, like food allergies, eczema, or asthma.

It is recommended that formula or breast milk should be the only thing you should give the baby for the first 5-6 months. If a babys constipated the doctor maybe say give them a little prune juice in their milk, so it would make it easier for the baby to move their bowels.

there are baby jucies you can get from chemists or what i done with my three sons was give them cooled boiled water, also for a cheaper way i got sugar free jucie. but water is the best, maybe an once about an hour after there feed, or if you have already started your baby on solids inbetween. but the baby might only take a few drops, health vistors will go against this but it's your baby as long as they still take there milk it really is not a problem..... good luck

Only formula at that young age. WHen baby is 4-6 mos old I believe you can add one bottle of juice/day, but right now that little digestive system is only ready for formula or breast milk.

WHen he is a bit older you can give water. And you can give juice, but very diluted, like 1 part juice to 3 parts water. But a easy just like apple, not tomato or grapefruit or orange. SOmething easy on the stomach.
But don't give it all the time. Like 4 oz a day or something. Water is ok though.
If still unsure as your dr. 2 mos is a bit too young still.

You should only be giving your 2 month old baby formula or breast milk at this point.
If you feel he/she isn't getting enough talk to the doctor about adding or increasing the baby's diet.

It's pretty much only milk because giving an infant water can lead to water intoxication. "Excessive swallowing of water will cause "water intoxication" in a baby. Babies are more at risk because they have a smaller blood volume which requires less water to dilute. Water intoxication can cause restlessness, weakness, nausea, muscle twitching, stupor, convulsions, and coma"

They only need breast milk or formula at this age. Their digestive tract is still too immature for anything else.
