Minnesota is a beautiful state! There is a lot to do, depending on your interests. The Minneapolis/St. Paul area is filled with museums, theater, etc. There is great shopping, from the Mall of America to the boutiques and outlet malls. Southern Minnesota is filled with bike trails - great scenery through bluff country - there are rivers running throughout, which means no mosquitoes if you are hiking/camping/biking. Great skiing, both downhill and crosscountry, throughout. Fishing, boating and camping are plentiful in the "Land of 10,000 Lakes", and there are many upscale resorts if that is more your style. Much to do and see for any lifestyle and budget - check out http://www.exploreminnesota.com/

Hi...I live in Minnesota and while it is not for me, if you at all like the outdoors, you would love it here. I don't like the winters as they are both cold and long. I live north of the metro and it is very scenic with lakes and resorts. Based on the three posters who answered ahead of me, if I were you, I would go with what the 1st one said. As you head to Western MN it is more prairie and farmland and less scenic. But it is still nice also. The area around MOA has grown and now there is an IKEA there too. The shopping is good, but I actually like some of the other metro malls better, like Rosedale.

I've been to MN many times. It's great for a lot of outdoor activities. Rochester is OK, but to me the only interesting place is Minneapolis/St. Paul. MOA, shopping, dining, cultural stuff, it's better than Iowa.
However, the weather can be horrid. Anything from blizzards to hot and humid. Don't even get me started about the traffic. But the people themselves are nice.

I went to The Mall of America there in Minneapolis. Where I was, it looked horrible. The inside of the mall was really neat. I heard that the country area is beautiful though.
