No not at all! I have three kids myself...12, 9, and 3yrs old. I am having problems with my two oldest and no matter what I do and how much I threaten or take away things, it just doesn't seem to phase them. I've used discipline and grounding too. My last attempt was telling them that I was going to send them to boot camp for the summer and they looked at me as if I was being untrue. So, we have a young marines meeting that is held a few miles from our house and I drove them up there while we sat in the car and I let them watch the different exercises that they were doing. Needless to say, they didn't like it a bit...they were both crying after sitting there for five minutes. At that point they knew I was serious and I haven't had too many problems out of them since. Maybe what you need to do is give him a reality check and show him that you are dead serious. It's not cruel, you just want your son to grow up with respect...and everyone will respect you for that. Nobody likes a "fresh" acting kid!

Well, I dont know how fresh he is being but it could be a good way to scare him to behave better.
