You are reading way to much into this movie, it is just a movie based on a comic book. First off the movie is meant to be entertainment and not history. Second in the movie Xerxes is the ruler of Persia. Most of the people who see this have absolutely no idea that ancient Persia was centered in what is modern day Iran. Relax and just try to enjoy the heroic stand made by well muscled men against an eight foot tall Xerxes and an army of a billion, or some such number, less muscular men.

All we know that the very first human rights ideas were born in Iran at this very same era and the proof to this is at the United Nation's building today. This movie is NOT based on history, it's based on a comic book. I can write a book about United States and tell that americans are wild, ugly and horrible monsters. But is it true? Absolutely no!

Some people which call themselves "Artist" has produced a movie based on a "Big Lie Novel" and are showing it to millions of people around the world, So some people which don't have any knowledge about the history of civilization of the world may believe it as the history. It's very sad but I'm sure that just some kids which think that "The lord of the rings" is a part of history, may believe this "300" lie movie is based on truth too.

Your question has some validity-Hollywood does have some political agenda-i.e. during WW2 many war movies made to show how evil the enemy was and thus get more volunteers to sign up. I lived thru that era as a high school teen and guys from our high school went for it,not that it took Hollywood to fire up their patriotism but this is a small example. However, as some answered here, if Hollywood has that much influence on us, we do indeed have a sheep mentality!

Remember, some young people are easily swayed-guilable is the word for it-and they don't always take time to think things through and sort fact from fiction but isn't that true (specially now) of adults While WW2 had a draft-many did sign up before being called up..

The movie is NOT about Iran. What is modern day Iran is a muslim infested sarcophagus of what persia used to be. It is the same with Turkey and many other eastern countries.

The movie is about free men fighting against ALL odds to retain their freedom at all cost. It is about a proud people defending their right to live life the way they see fit.

Everyone is so angered over the cultural assasinations of any civilization other than a western one that they have forgotten that western civilization has it's own culture that is worthy of it's own merits. Don't demonize the Spartans for all that they defend when the real enemy is always within ourselves.

People who are educated are not going to look at this movie and think that persians are uncivilized. I mean as an african american i took offense to elizabeth taylor playing cleopatra. White people playing native americans. Ridiculous right? So Hollywood, take the movies they make with a grain of salt there always trying to make money on someones back. They aren't trying to make persian look that way as much as they are trying to to make a dramatic motion picture.

Of course they use cinema for political problems, and to create problems where there should be none. It's the greatest tool for miseducation that there has ever been, next to word of mouth. The worst part about it is that it's effective because the masses are ignorant and love to believe the hype, particularly during war time and other such conflict.

I saw the movie and it atarted off with some historical facts, then it just became fiction amd Faction.

Its just hollywood, my friend, and in case you haven't noticed.... Hollywood is in the movie business to make money, not to educate the masses!
Getting an education is up to you, and the schools.

people who look towards hollywood for political information are complete morons so their opinions don't count anyway, look at the last election with john kerry he didn't win because idiots like eminem and susan sarandon were telling everybody to vote for him, many Americans registered to vote aren't going to take political advice from those idiots, 300 was a pretty good movie, i saw it this weekend

Hollywood is not Politics - people need to learn to differentiate the two. Stop bowing down to your liberal hollywood Gods and get over it.

Even worse is that they portray Iranians as negroes. Iranians have a culture and a rich history, blacks never did. This is a lot like the Afrocentric hogwash that claims Egyptians were black.
