I bought one of the Chinese motorcycles to see what they were like. I have the DT 150 dirt bike. Here is what I have found.

The motor, based on the Honda XL/XR design runs good and puts out decent power. It's actually one of the best running motors I have owned. The jetting was spot on and it starts in a kick or two. No oil leaks or breaks in the two years I have had it.

The suspension sucks. The front was ok. I had to add air caps so I could adjust them. The rear was total crap. I had to modify the bike to accept a real shock. It cost me money and lots of design and machining time to make that work! As delivered the bike only has about 2" of rear travel even though it looks like a long travel bike. Mine now has about 6".

Brakes are good. Tires are ok. Plastic is ok. All rubber parts like fuel lines are junk and need to be replaced before you even start it. Welds are scary looking. Replacement parts are not to be found. The sites that say they sell parts have never e-mailed me back....ever.

So here's the deal. They work great for a cheap bike. Mine was under $800 brand new. I think it's fun to ride when I just want to buzz around. You can ride around and have alot of fun for $800. The same size in a Honda was over $3000! Just make sure you change your oil and keep the air filter cleaned. Don't abuse it because if it breaks you are done riding. For God's sake don't try any big jumps or stunts. The welds will bust and you will die.

Hi, I bought a Hongdu 125, apparently based on a Honda it was a custom looking thing. Looked good and it cost me £1000 about 4 years ago, brand new, I think this was just before the market got flooded with them. The engine seemed great, pulled really well and started first time every time. The problem was the build quality, the materials were just so cheap compared to on Jap machines. Brake levers snapping, wing mirrors snapping when trying to adjust, footrests bending etc etc. it really was a joke. You'd be far better buying an older bike but a Jap one.

Well, I went for it without asking someone... Big mistake.. Hyosung made in China, looks good actually a precise replica of Honda Shadow, cheep to buy but then I could not find a company to insure it, carbs needed a good cleaning every month as it didn't had a petrol filter. To cut the story short it costed me a lots of stress and money for repairs,it didn't last a year before I unscrewed the plates and left it under the bridge for the kids to play. Took a loan and bought a proper Japanese bike, happy rider since then.

yes some look wonderful but based on genuine vast experience not prejudice all that glitters is not gold. 99.9% of these machines are significantly inferior nowhere as near mechanicly sound and do often break down in areas not just of inconvenience but serious safety. anyone who tells you other is either trying to sell one has little experience or goes for looks alone.. some imports make good bikes for eg the cg125 storm (honda) is all the british version prettier added xtras and no less inferior can be picked up yr old for 1500 dont pay much more.. hope this helps keep smiling

You'll want to check out the forum at www.scootdawg.com and the forum at www.scooterbbs.com for info regarding various makes of Chinese bikes and scooters. After reading the forums you'll see that if you are going to purchase one of these machines it is recommended that you buy from an established dealer (one with a real store) and not from some ebay drop shipper from which you will receive NO warranty, parts, or service. Treated correctly and given routine maintanence one of these machines should give resonably good service.

Actually the first answer is wrong - Sukida motorcycles are made in Guangzhou Province in China. Their main U.K base is in Cardiff.

Unfortunately, like all Chinese made motorcycles and scooters, they suffer from poor reliability, suspect build quality and frightening brakes. And as mentioned above, if they go wrong, you will almost certainly have no after sales service at all...

For safety's sake, don't buy one...

Yeah specific. chinese language bike are super. they're surprising. I somewhat have one and that's working ideal. that's in case you do no longer recommendations some minor info like if the lighting fixtures furnishings won't artwork, the kit won't shift, or the brakes won't provide up the motorcycle. different than that, that's significant. i'm no longer very lots related to the entire concept of "residing". So surprising uncalled for acceleration in velocity would not hardship me lots. Loud banging noise coming from the engine provides rythm to my existence. In some activities, I see issues falling different than for the motorcycle at the same time as i'm driving, I in no way provide as much as seem back or attempt to verify what fell on the floor as long because of the fact the motorcycle remains going. I take it as symbolism to my existence the place issues crumple, yet I shop going. that's considered necessary once you purchase something is which you ensure that the element you got has a different character. My motorcycle has a recommendations of its very own. now and back the sunshine pass on interior the midst of the day and rancid at nighttime. in lots of circumstances while i will do something pressing, my motorcycle won't initiate. Which shall we me understand that my motorcycle thinks that going to that place won't do my any good. Who desires a mindless motorcycle that works advantageous without faults once you may get an definitely existence companion which will provide you exciting participation in all significant judgements? expensive sir. paying for a chinese language motorcycle is an exhilarating adventure which will assist you to appreciate how lots you relish your existence and prepared on residing. that's going to help you're making many new acquaintances on your daily visits to the mechanics and the repairmen. I strongly advise the chinese language motorcycle. i'm very happy with it, and that's the only element that i will ever be waiting to arise with the money for in my entire existence.

Your question is not clear, I don't understand when you say " and scooters like?" like what, are you asking what they are like? although the first part of your question appears contrary to that.
Chinese stuff is up and coming, it may be cheap and cheerful at the moment but then you get what you pay for
