Defining "success" I think for most people is financial security, whichever way they attain this. Most people want a good education and good paying jobs, while others choose to become actors. Another reason is to make friends and family proud. It is as natural instinct as breathing, we all want to do our best and be the best we can be.

well I don't think it's just you, its everyone around, everyone wants to be something in life, feel like they want to achieve something (some do it for the fame, for being known, for personal reasons, achievements, proving someone or something wrong etc.)...whatver the reason, the reason is the driving force behind anyone's success. What you have to do is find out the reason, and you'll know why.

Possibly because you want nothing less than the best for yourself. Frankly, I believe it is sinful to pursue mediocrity.
You are the only one to define personal success.
However, you must not allow the distractions and failures along the path to render you ineffective.
Remember that, to fail at something is understandable--its not trying that's disgusting.
